We are committed to maintaining excellent parent communication. We want to be sure that parents know and understand what their children are doing in the classroom and school.
To ensure good relations, we will:
Publish a monthly school-wide newsletter, informing parents of what each classroom group has been working on as well as general school news. We ask that parents be active in our newsletter by giving feedback and submitting suggestions.
Maintain an up-to-date community bulletin board and classroom bulletin boards.
Holding regular Town Hall Meetings in which all parents are asked to participate. Parents are asked to contribute topics for discussion with regard to school operations. Town Hall Meetings will be held as required.
Offering monthly Parent Education Nights and Discussion Forums. The purpose of these nights will be: to teach parents about Montessori education, to share experiences with other parents, to discuss a variety of childcare issues. We hope that parents will request specific topics and recommend specialists to be invited to these informative sessions.
Hold two Follow the Child Nights per school year. The purpose of these nights will be for the child to invite parents and/or guardians to the classroom for a tour and material presentation. Guests will be invited to use the materials that are presented.
Schedule times throughout the year when parents can enter the classroom for an observation. Parents will be invited once per year to observe their childs classroom community for 30-45 minutes in the morning. We urge parents to take advantage of this opportunity.
Schedule three mandatory individual parent-teacher conferences per school year. These conferences will be scheduled in September, January and May. Each family will be given 25 minutes to discuss their childs progress and program. Parents are urged to write down their questions prior to the meeting in order to get the most from the time allotted.
