Outdoors
Policy

All outdoor clothing must be labeled with your childs name. We are not responsible for lost articles of clothing. Help us to keep organized by labeling everything with a fabric marker.
If your child is too ill to go outside, he or she must remain at home. All children in the school will go outside every day, depending on conditions.

The outdoors is an important part of our prepared learning environment for your child. It really is an extension of our indoor classrooms. The children will usually go outside every day unless the temperature drops below what is specified by the Department of Health and Community Services. We take outdoor time very seriously and expect that parents support this.
Children are expected to wear appropriate clothing in all weather. It is not fair for children to be kept inside because a parent has not supplied mittens or snow pants. Parents should supply extra mittens and a hat. If it rains, please bring rain boots and a raincoat. We will usually take advantage of rainy days by exploring our forest. The sights and smells of a rainy forest are exciting for children and instill lasting memories. Remember that we aim to provide as many outdoor exploratory experiences as possible. Plan to bring an extra pair of socks and pants on wet days because children love to explore the many mini lakes and streams in our school woods. What could be more fun than to work with your friends building bridge or a dam in the backyard? Remember that we take every safety precaution and that we are all trained in First Aid; however, your child will likely not escape the school year without some bumps and bruises (and dirty clothing) along the way!
